Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition. The guaranteed placement rights upon expiration of temporary promotion, if not made permanent, apply to Department of Army employees only. If the temporary promotion is not made permanent the employee will be returned to this position from which temporarily promoted or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes the following:
Direct military and civilian law enforcement in the performance of their duties; Identify problem areas in policies and procedures to correct deficiencies; and Establish objectives and procedures for various elements of emergency services to comply with mission requirements. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in performing criminal investigative duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Criminal LawManaging Human ResourcesPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent using normal line of progression (GS-11).
