About the Position:
This position will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military/OA) located at Personnel Control Facility (PCF), Garrison, Fort Sill, OK. Serve as clerk in the Administrative Section of the Personnel Control Facility in the verification and processing of discharge actions under Chapters 10, 13, and 14 of AR 635-200.

Nestled in the historic American Southwest, the Fort Sill area boasts numerous attractions, expanding/affordable housing, quality school districts and ready access to shopping/dining. Lawton/Fort Sill is surrounded by a national treasure, the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. There are thousands of acres for hiking and open ranges for buffalo, elk, longhorn and other wildlife. For those desiring a big city atmosphere, Oklahoma City is about 70 minutes from Lawton/Fort Sill and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas is about 3 hours away.

Responsibilities
Verify and process discharge actions under Chapters 10, 13, and 14 of AR 635-200.
Process AWOL actions in accordance with AR 630-10.
Responsible for performing other functions within the unit in the absence of the military clerk.
Research difficult cases by contacting a large variety of offices within the Department of the Army, local, state and other federal agencies.
Complete a final review of all chapter actions prior to submission to unit commander for approval.
Compose and type a variety of material such as correspondence, reports, memorandums, blank forms, etc. with responsibility for format, grammar, punctuation, spelling, routing, amount of copies, etc.
Perform office automation work such as standardized word processing, receipt of transmission of electronic mail, updating an electronic calendar, etc.
Assemble materials with necessary accompanying documents and submits for approval and transmissions.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires a Qualified Typist with a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. General Experience for GS-04: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as: 1) utilizing office automation systems, 2) filing, 3) providing customer service assistance and 4) reviewing documents for completeness.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Specialized Experience for GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) work that involves interpreting and applying the rules, regulations and procedures related to military personnel, 2) performing a variety of procedural and clerical work, 3) experience with various office automation systems; and 4) review and process military personnel actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
