About the Position: This position serves as a Guidance Counselor for the Army Continuing Education System Division (ACES), Directorate of Human Resources, US Army Installation Management Command, Fort Sill, OK. The incumbent will serve as a professional education counselor in the Army Continuing Education System (ACES) Program providing the full range of general educational and career development counseling to military and civilian personnel for the Fort Sill Education Center.

Counsels military personnel, adult family members, and civilian personnel to help them develop and achieve a valid military career goal and subsequent civilian occupation.
Gathers information about the individual during the initial counseling session and recommends testing. Schedules, analyzes, and interprets the test results.
Schedules individuals for technical MOS-related training/instruction , on-duty classes, off-duty classes, or any available combination the individual may desire to attend .
Provides assistance to personnel applying for scholarships, educational allowances, and grants.
Monitors progress of individual soldier to ensure educational progress and provide additional guidance if progress has not been made.
Engages in outreach efforts to work with those in remote parts of a geographic area of support and those who are not motivated to seek voluntary counseling.
Works issues in GoArmyEd relating to Soldier enrollment in college classes.
May serve as the Test Control Officer or Alternate Test Control Officer for the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) and the Army Personnel Testing Programs.
Prepares/conducts educational briefings for groups or units to inform them of the entire educational program and promotes self-development programs provided by the Armed Forces .
Conducts periodic group counseling sessions to explain the scope of the education program, its benefits, tuition assistance available, and eligibility requirements.
Basic Requirements
To qualify for this position you must first meet the basic requirement described below:
A Bachelor's Degree that includes or is supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of the areas described below. At least one course must have been from (1) or (2) below. For guidance counselor positions, a college or university-sponsored practicum in counseling is also required. (Note: Transcript reflecting practicum in counseling must be submitted.)
1. Tests and measurement: Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests.
2. Adult education: Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities.
3. Educational program administration: Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs.
4. Curriculum development or design: Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs.
5. Teaching methods: Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner.
6. Guidance and counseling: Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation.
7. Career planning: Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems.
8. Occupational information: Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
